Further Infrastructure Improvements For Mona Vale Hospital

31 August 2017
Member for Pittwater Rob Stokes today said the assessment of health care providers is being finalised as part of ongoing modernisation and transformation of Mona Vale Hospital.

Earlier this year more than 20 not-for-profit and private health care providers responded to a Registration of Interest process for additional health services to be co-located at Mona Vale Hospital. The proposed services include everything from general practice through to medical specialists.

This process will help better utilise the entire Mona Vale Hospital campus and continue the introduction of modern, state-of-the-art health infrastructure.

Any additional services would be provided alongside a range of existing and new health services including 24/7 Urgent Care, medical imaging, pathology, pharmacy, inpatient rehabilitation and assessment, inpatient geriatric evaluation and management, inpatient palliative care and a diversity of essential community health services.

All land will remain in public ownership and the Northern Sydney Local Health District will continue to manage the Mona Vale Hospital campus.

“We’ve recently seen major infrastructure and service improvements at Mona Vale Hospital and we must ensure this positive momentum continues,” Rob Stokes said today.

“Mona Vale Hospital will work in close partnership with the major metropolitan hospital at Frenchs Forest when it opens late next year.

“There’s now a really exciting opportunity to see additional health services introduced at Mona Vale Hospital and the campus further expanded to accommodate new infrastructure.

“After many years of uncertainty – we have a clear vision for Mona Vale Hospital which will ensure it plays an ongoing role in the provision of high quality health services on the northern beaches,” Rob Stokes said.

The next infrastructure projects scheduled to progress towards construction at Mona Vale Hospital include a new inpatient palliative care unit (the first of its type on the northern beaches) and a new on-campus ambulance facility.
