''The club has been home to life savers since 1912 and the North Narrabeen Boardriders Club (NNBC) since 1964.'' council stated
The proposed works will improve accessibility and enhance facilities for members and the community. Planned works include a new 35 m² meeting space for the NNBC, upgraded interiors, balcony and BBQ area.
We're planning to start works between early June and Summer 2026 (weather permitting), though public access to amenities, gym, board riders and SLSC facilities and part of the first-floor deck will remain open. The café and bar may be closed for part of the works, which the club will communicate through their social platforms.''

The council also stated North Steyne Surf Life Saving Club is undergoing works with the main roof being replaced, concrete cancer repairs, external painting, and the repair and replacement of windows, gutters and downpipes. These works will be completed in July.
On May 14 2024 the NSW Government announced North Narrabeen SLSC lifesavers and surfers have good cause to smile after their club was awarded $632,343 towards Stage 1 Works - Building Extensions and Upgrades.
'The North Narrabeen surf club was constructed in the late 1970's and the project to upgrade the facilities include and extension to the north to provide additional internal floor space, enclosure of part of the existing balcony, rainwater harvesting and stormwater drainage works to reduce the impacts to the dunes' the announcement said.
The funding was allocated to the Northern Beaches Council
The club was among 32 across NSW to share in more than $5 million towards the upgrade, restoration or construction of facilities under the NSW Government’s Surf Club Facility Program.
Then in April 2026 the State Government announced a further allocation under the same program of $600,000 for Stage 2 building works, delivering upgraded member facilities to deliver upgraded facilities including main hall, cafe, storage and training areas.

Background
The council made available for feedback a proposal for alterations and additions at North Narrabeen SLSC in April 2023.
The proposed upgrade works comprise a minor extension to provide a suitable meeting space for the NNBC and other building improvements that include alterations to:
- improve accessibility
- provide upgraded facilities - including an enclosed space on the first floor deck
- fix waterproofing of the first-floor deck, and
- provide a general upgrade to the building to improve community and member use of the space.
The proposed works were then planned to be carried out in three (3) stages:
Stage 1 – Boardriders room, BBQ area renewal and associated landscaping works (GF) and slab extension (L1).
Stage 2 – Internal refurbishment with new ceiling, lighting, flooring (L1).
Stage 3 – Decking renewal and waterproofing works, new enclosed space, balustrades and cladding (L1).
The project aims to provide a new meeting room for the North Narrabeen Boardriders Club to meet their operational needs, address the failure of the waterproofing of the first floor slab and generally improve the facility for members and the community.
The total project cost including professional fees, authority fees and staff costs is estimated to be in the order of $2.85M.
