Members of the Warriewood Residents Association sent in an update this week on the new community centre build, which had been kindly provided by the council's liaison officer.
The Warriewood-North Narrabeen community will have noticed that roofing works for the new Warriewood Community Centre have been delayed by the constant rains.
These works are now getting very close to completion and external wall cladding and the installation of framing for windows and glazed screens have commenced.
Once the glazing is complete, the roof is finished and the building is fully weather tight, the internal mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services can progress more rapidly alongside the internal fit-out.
Externally, below ground services and landscaping preparation works are ongoing.
The existing site office will shortly be relocated to enable works to the western carpark works to commence.
Features of the new centre will include:
- multi-purpose halls suited to a wide range of recreational activities
- two multi-purpose meeting rooms
- a community space providing a safe and accessible area
- large covered outdoor spaces which overlook landscaped gardens
- modern and accessible amenities
- multiple and adaptable kitchen facilities.
The design incorporates best-practice sustainability principles.
The centre will be a modern, resilient building with the capacity to switch to an Emergency and Recovery Centre during a period of community crisis.
At this stage the project is still on track for an end of 2025 completion date - if the tradies don't get too much more rain.
The council are also progressing design works on a new shared pathway linking to the B-Line bus stop and upgrading Boondah Road to complement this project.
