Wakehurst Parkway Improvements Community Notification: November 2026 - Road Closures

The NSW Government is delivering improvements to the Wakehurst Parkway between Frenchs Forest and Narrabeen, focusing on safety and capacity for this key link.

What work are we doing?

In November, we are continuing work on the Wakehurst Parkway, between Trefoil Creek and Oxford Falls Road. Work includes:

  • earthwork, utility and drainage work
  • pavement and concrete work
  • line marking and barrier movements.

Upcoming weekend full road closure along Wakehurst Parkway

Subject to approval and weather, Wakehurst Parkway between Frenchs Forest Road and Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation will be fully closed from 8pm Friday 20 November to 5am Monday 23 November.

During this closure, we will install utilities including stormwater drainage under and across the road. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.

Please refer to the map for closure locations, detour routes and access to Northern Beaches Hospital. Local access to Dreadnought Road and Oxford Falls Road will be maintained.

This closure will allow us to work more safely and efficiently, accelerate construction, improve flood resilience and reduce disruption to the community over the long term.

If the work does not go ahead as planned, the closure will be rescheduled to 8pm Friday 4 December to 5am Monday 7 December 2026.

We will notify the community in advance.

Upcoming weekend road closure along Oxford Falls Road

Oxford Falls Road, between Aroona Road and Wakehurst Parkway will be fully closed from 6am to 6pm, Saturday 28 November and 6am to 6pm, Sunday 29 November for electric utility work.

During this work, nearby properties may experience temporary power outages. Affected residents and businesses will be notified in advance by Ausgrid.

For further details, please refer to the map further information.

Plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of signs and traffic controllers For the latest traffic updates across the network, download the Live Traffic NSW app, visit livetraffic.com or call 132 701.

We recognise the impact these closures will have on the wider community. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we deliver these improvements.

Other work occurring in November: When and where we’ll be working

Our standard construction hours are from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday.

During November, we will also be working:

  • continuously from Friday 20 November to Monday 23 November
  • from 6am to 6pm, Saturday 28 November and 6am to 6pm, Sunday 29 November

Outside of these dates, work will also occur outside of standard construction hours from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday.

No more than five nights of work will be undertaken each week.

Night and weekend work includes stormwater drainage installation, rock breaking, pavement work, power utility outages, concrete work for new curbs and footpaths, line marking and barrier movements.

Nearby residents will be contacted in advance of work taking place.

Work is subject to change, pending weather and site conditions. Refer to map on page 4 for work locations.

What will this mean for you?

While we carry out this work, you may notice:

  • temporary road closures requiring detours
  • traffic controllers and signage directing road users
  • reduced speed limits during and outside of standard hours
  • workers and vehicles moving around the site
  • noise from machinery and equipment.

Managing our effects on the community

Some work activities will require the use of machinery which will generate noise, light and vibration.

We will implement the following controls to minimise the impact to the community and environment:

  • use non-tonal reversing beepers
  • use of noise blankets where required
  • manage dust by watering down exposed areas during earthwork
  • complete oversize deliveries later at night when traffic volumes are lower
  • keep affected residents and businesses informed ahead of higher-impact activities.

Our equipment

Work will involve the use of the following machinery and equipment:

  • delivery vehicles (heavy vehicles, light vehicles and ‘pick and carry’ cranes)
  • earthwork machinery (jack hammer, saw cutting, excavator, profiler, roller, grader, tipper, vacuum truck)
  • lifting equipment (mobile cranes)
  • general construction plant (water carts, loaders, concrete trucks, asphalt pavers and others)
