Oils In The Alice: The Great Circle 2017 World Tour

Midnight Oil launched the Australian leg of The Great Circle Tour last night in Alice Springs with a special Welcome to Country by Senior Arrente men.
Traditional Owner Benedict Stevens told the crowd of nearly 5000 people, "See these two young men here, just like you to know that Arrente Culture is still really strong.”

Peter Garrett told the crowd
"Here we are in the red heart, so far from being the dead heart, of this mighty mighty continent. We did a sneaky gig at Kintore last night [crowd cheers] - it's so good to be back in this place that was seminal to Midnight Oil back in the early days."

"Back then we toured with the Warrumpi Band, including a gig at Yuendumu [crowd goes wild] - 'Big Name, No Blankets' - and we thought we might play one of their songs for you now [crowd goes apoplectic!] - 'From The Bush'!" - Peter Garrett, Alice Springs, last night.

[and this bloke in the crowd remembers the indefatigable George Rrurrambu Burarrwanga, front man of the Warrumpi Band, departed this life 2007, gone but not forgotten...]
