Manly Warringah Basketball Associations Boys and Girls Under 14s teams have qualified to represent New South Wales at the upcoming 2025 Australian Under-14 Club Championships, to be held in Willetton, Western Australia.
The tournament will run from Sunday the 28th of September to Friday the 3rd of October 2025, co-hosted by Basketball Australia and the Willetton Basketball Association.
The Under-14 Club Championships are the premier national competition for junior club teams, bringing together the top 48 teams from across the country 24 boys’ teams and 24 girls’ teams, to compete for national honours.
Team nominations are based on each state’s qualification system. For New South Wales, the top four girls’ teams and top five boys’ teams from the 2025 Junior Premier League (JPL) have secured their place at this prestigious event (ACT provided NSW with an extra boys team).
These juniors have been working hard for this opportunity on the court and fund raising in their free time so let’s get behind them! This is more than just a competition. It’s a chance for these dedicated young athletes to test themselves against Australia’s best, grow as a team, and create memories that will last a lifetime. But getting to Perth isn’t easy—it comes with a big price tag. Flights, accommodation, uniforms, meals, and team logistics all add up quickly.
Club members, supporters and family are reaching out to our community—families, friends, local businesses, and basketball lovers—to help make this dream a reality. The boys and girls have also been fundraising locally, running bake sales at games and sausage sizzles when and where they can.
MWBA organisers (and mums) tell us: ''We’ve teamed up with the Australian Sports Foundation, so any donation over $2 is tax-deductible. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to the court in Perth. If you believe in supporting youth sport, teamwork, and opportunity, we’d love to have you on this journey with us.''

Wakehurst MP Michael Regan, who visited both teams recently to offer his congratulations on a great season so far, said;
''Both these amazing teams have been working hard on and off the court, running bake sales, sausage sizzles and raffles to reach their goal of $30K to go to Perth for Nationals. Please support these great teams, and help them represent our community all the way in Western Australia.''
MWBA referees, Lucas Nicol and Lachy Francis, have been selected to represent Basketball NSW at the 2025 Australian Under-14 Club Championships in Perth.
MWBA stated of Lucas and Lachy: ''Your hard work and dedication to a smooth and fair game is exactly why you’ve earned this incredible opportunity. Without you, the game just wouldn’t happen.''
Having a Great 75th Year

The 2025 NBL1 East Women's Champions: Manly Warringah Sea Eagles!
Basketball NSW stated this pat week it was thrilled to host the 2025 Mitsubishi Motors NBL1 East Grand Finals at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre on Saturday, the 16th of August.
It was a huge day of elite basketball, with the top Men’s and Women’s teams in the East Conference battling it out for the title of 2025 Champions. Both grand finals were hard-fought contests, with little separating the sides for much of the games.
The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles finally broke through for their long-awaited championship, delivering a dominant performance over the Centre of Excellence to claim the Women’s title.
The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are champions of the NBL1 East at last, securing their first NBL1 East Women’s title following an end-to-end victory over Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence.
After years of close calls, including a Grand Final loss in 2023 and a preliminary final exit last year, Manly stormed through 2025 closing the season with a 16-game-win-streak, finishing the season at 18–2 scoring the league’s Minor Premiership. Their playoff run was just as convincing, defeating the Albury-Wodonga Bandits and Newcastle Falcons on their way to Penrith and a date with the COE.
The Sea Eagles wasted no time stamping their authority. Josie Bulman opened the game with a triple, Alex Delaney followed with another, and an 8–0 burst set the tone. By quarter-time Manly led 26–14, and by halftime the gap had ballooned to 51–24 behind hot shooting and smothering defence. From there, the result never looked in doubt.
Taylor Wurtz, the season’s MVP runner-up, claimed Grand Final MVP with 25 points (12 of those in the first-quarter), six rebounds and four assists, including six three-pointers. Delaney added 18 points, seven boards and five assists, while Zoey Miller (17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists) and captain Kim Dickinson (15 points, 7 rebounds) ensured Manly’s firepower was spread across the floor.
Final Score: 89-61 vs Centre of Excellence
MVP: Taylor Wurtz – 25 PTS, 6 REB, 4 AST
The girls will now turn their attention to the NBL1 Nationals, taking place in Canberra from the 29th–31st of August, where they will compete against the other conference winners for the ultimate prize, the title of National Champions.
