Kristyn Glanville is announced as the Greens candidate for the state seat of Manly in the 2027 State Election. Glanville is an award-winning planning and environment lawyer and Councillor on Northern Beaches Council for the Curl Curl Ward.

Leveraging her background as a planning lawyer, Ms Glanville will be running on a platform of reforming planning law to strengthen commitments to community involvement, environment conservation, and genuine affordable housing. She is also calling for increased investment in frequency and reliability of local public transport and active transport infrastructure.

Kristyn Glanville comes with strong credentials on environmental protection and climate action, progressing action at Northern Beaches Council to better protect coastal dunes, tackle waste, improve water quality, manage contamination, and phase out chemical use toxic to wildlife. Glanville was involved in the campaign to Stop PEP-11 and recently had success leading the campaign to save Lizard Rock from development, helping coordinate the campaign to protect this local bushland from over 30 hectares of clearing.

Ms Glanville has been pivotal in driving affordable housing on Northern Beaches Council, including doubling proposed affordable housing commitments for Brookvale, and progressing development of affordable housing on Council owned land.

Glanville is a mother of two young boys and lives in Freshwater, attended high school at St Lukes Grammar School in Dee Why, and has lived in the Northern Beaches since primary school.

Kristyn Glanville said this week:

"The Minns Government has taken a machete to planning law in NSW. Power has been taken away from communities and local councils to shape development in their area in line with community needs and genuine community benefit. The community is being told to brace for more development, without any meaningful plans or firm commitments for improved public transport, road upgrades, or other infrastructure."

"Minns has said that deregulation is necessary to tackle housing affordability. Well, I call shenanigans. The majority of new LMR development we're seeing on the Northern Beaches is not affordable, and in some cases around Sydney, actually decreasing the amount of more affordable rentals by replacing more modest small apartments with large luxury apartments. One seniors living apartment building recently built in my home suburb of Freshwater even came with a free Porsche."

"We're past the point of incremental change or trying to negotiate with the Minns Government. They've approved coal mine expansions. They're reopening discussions on gas expansion and plan to spend money earmarked for renewables on new gas projects. They're not serious about climate change or doing anything that would upset vested interests. They're tinkering on tackling issues like the harm caused by pokies in local places like Dee Why RSL.”

Ms Glanville has previously run for the State Seat of Manly in 2019, finishing on 18.9% (two candidate preferred at 37.1%). She was recently re-elected to Northern Beaches Council for Curl Curl ward on an increased primary vote of 24.37%.
