One Meal Northern Beaches

One Meal Northern Beaches delivers food relief through weekly Community Meals (general support), and a Delivery Program (targeted support) getting fresh hampers and cooked meals directly to people referred by social service agencies and community groups.

We offer a number of free Community Meals every week:

These meal services are open to anyone in need. Please click on the links above for service details and times or contact us for details on mobile services.

In addition to these community meals, on Monday to Thursday each week our Delivery Program provides fresh fruit and veggie hampers, pre-cooked hot and frozen meals, meat, bread, pantry staples and personal care packs to people referred by local social service and community agencies.

Find out more about VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES with our Northern Beaches service, here.

Our delivery program meets a unique need by working closely with local services to assess where targeted support is critically needed, and to directly reach those who may otherwise “fall through the cracks”. We respond to caseworker referrals and especially those who would otherwise not access services due to challenges like restricted mobility, mental health including anxiety (e.g. agoraphobia), challenging family situations (incl. DV fears), physical limitations, isolation, communication/language/culture barriers, etc.

We interact with 16+ agencies on the Beaches include Mission Australia, Community Care Northern Beaches, PCYC, Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter, Women & Children First, Bridge Housing, Link Housing, Women’s Housing, Burdekin Association, Tibetan Society, RSL Life Care, APAC, Catholic Care, Taldumande Youth Service, Naremburn Family Crisis Centre, and many others.

Tree of Joy:  Belrose Rotary

A simple but very powerful idea, this is a Rotary community orientated project aimed at providing gifts to less fortunate people within the broad community who seldom have the pleasure of receiving one for Christmas.

Trees of Joy are placed in shopping centres, banks, offices and the like. Some time before Xmas our Rotary Club contacts charities and welfare centres asking them what their requirements are. Once having received their requests appropriate labels are handwritten eg. "4 year old boy in hospital would like a transformer game".

We at Belrose have many charities and support organisations who approach us with details of worthy recipients of gifts, these may be young or old, lonely, poor, infirm or just in need of a little love and care.   Our handwritten gift cards are produced and dress the Tree, people choose a card, purchase the gift and leave under the Tree.  We regularly collect the donated gifts and immediately distribute to the appropriate charity or support organisation.

Organisations we have supported include: St Vincent de Paul, Lifeline, Burnside (Wesley), Anglicare, Bear Cottage, Royal Far West (Children's Home), Women's Refuges, Stewart House and Indigenous and Rural Communities.   The major distribution area covered runs roughly from Newcastle to Wollongong and Greater Sydney across the Blue Mountains to the Far West of NSW.

Tree of Joy: Rotary Club of Upper Northern Beaches

Each year Upper Northern Beaches Rotary manage the Christmas Tree of Joy at Warriewood Square shopping centre. People place Christmas gifts under the tree and we distribute them to local families in need.

A Christmas Carol High School has all the great elements of the Dicken's classic with "mean girl" Meredith replacing Scrooge for a modern take on the tale we all know and love.

Meredith has lived a self-centred existence while her rich parents travel the world. Her peers are starting to get sick of her cruelty and unreliability but kind-hearted Melissa, is a faithful best friend no matter what. With help from the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, Meredith will obtain a birds eye view of her life and the people in it, and discover the true meaning of friendship, life and being a good person.

This play is full of humour, familiar characters throughout literature and timeless messages and values.

Avalon Beach Christmas Carols are Back

Saturday, 10 December 2022

Avalon Beach Surf Life Saving Club will proudly host the McGrath Pittwater Carols at the Beach again in 2022. It’s a wonderful event that brings our Pittwater community together for a night of singing, Christmas celebration and fireworks, all set against the spectacular backdrop of Avalon Beach.

We are thrilled that Carols at the Beach are back after being cancelled for the last two years, and we welcome and thank our Platinum sponsor, McGrath Pittwater and Gold sponsor, Northern Beaches Council.

A Silent Auction will be held from the 1st to the 10 December with fabulous prizes, all donated by our local Business Community. This is to support the Carols event, raise funds for rescue equipment, and fund Stage 2 of the Club’s Nett Zero Surf Club Project. Stage 2 is the purchase of batteries for the 33kw of solar panels we installed two years ago. State 2 will virtually eliminate the Club’s carbon footprint.

We are commencing at 4.00 pm with some great local talent and then carols starting at 6.00 pm when we will be taken through all our favourite Xmas Carols by the fabulous Jubilation choir. Children will be entertained by several of our favourite characters, a visit by Santa and the grand finale of a spectacular fireworks display over the beach.

We are looking to continue minimising the use of plastics and paper this year, so there will be no candles or song booklets. Instead, we will provide a QR code to access our Carols song sheets. There will be a diverse market-style food fair and lots of Surf Club members to help on what will be a great night.

For more information, contact carolsatthebeach@avalonbeachslsc.com.au or Avalon Surf Lifesaving Club on P: 02 9918 3298.

The Alannah & Madeline Foundation

On 28 April 1996, Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged six and three, were tragically killed alongside their mother and 32 others at Port Arthur in Tasmania.

One year later, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation was launched in the girls’ honour by their father Walter Mikac AM and a small group of volunteers, driven by the belief that all children and young people should be able to live a happy and safe life, free from violence and trauma.

Today our mission continues through care, prevention and advocacy – from supporting children experiencing family violence to online bullying and fighting for the rights of young people everywhere. After 25 years, our fight continues. The challenges facing children and young people may have changed, but our mission has not.
