In our pursuit of excellence in burgers The Chick'n Shack is one place we go to every week – in fact one of us frequents Chris Hynes’ Chick’n Shack more often than that!
This is old school burgers at their best – thick patties of high quality beef, or real chicken in the schnitzel burgers, or premium grade legumes on the lentil burger, with lettuce, tomato and beetroot. Extras such as bacon, cheese, egg and pineapple are all the best you can get too.

Meal Deal - The Lot
The 'Wedge' is legendary among locals. The Lentil Burger a favourite with vegetarians, the Schnitzels the best you can get while The Lot as a Meal Deal (burger, generous serving of hot chips and a can of drink) will satisfy even the biggest hunger.

Chris Hynes is known for being able to look after gluten free youngsters (or oldsters). The coffees are great, you can grab a breakfast roll and smoothie on your way to Whaley, or head down Friday night for Happy Hour Fish and Chips (5-7pm on Fridays; $7)– remember when we all used to go get Fish and Chips as a family on Friday nights – it was affordable, fresh, yummy – well Chris is bringing that back – big time!
You can choose from Barramundi, Flathead, Leatherjacket - have it grilled, crumbed, fried - there's also all those scrumptious extras; prawn cutlets, calamari rings, seafood sticks, handmade potato scallops - there's even a Family Seafood Box.
As well as being old school Mr. Hynes is very new school too. The launch of the Chick'n Shack App recently took place and sends your order straight into the terminus installed in the store so you can cut out waiting in a que – in fact, you won’t have to when you use this.
After a trailing period Chris will be ensuring you don’t even have to come into the shop soon as this Summer he intends to incorporate deliveries right to the beach. Imagine sitting on Palm Beach, you want fish and chips for the littlies, a burger for yourself, an ice cold smoothie for the better half BUT you don’t want to leave the beach, lose your parking spot and then try and find another near the food outlet selling the goods, stand in a que, and then try and wrestle all that lot back, find another car park and get half warm food back onto the beach.
Actually – let’s just emphasise that – you don’t have to leave the beach – get great high quality food to come to you.
