The Aries new moon occurs on April 15 in the US, and, on April 16 in Australia. This is another big new Moon, and, I feel that this one will be a particularly interesting time as Uranus is so highlighted, and, we have Chiron moving into Aries = the beginning of a brand new cycle for Chiron.

This new Moon is just over two degrees ahead of Uranus, and, just a few hours after the new Moon, we will have the Moon conjuncting (together with) Uranus, and, a few days following the new Moon, we will have the Sun crossing over Uranus, making this not only a very interesting time, but, perhaps (and most likely) a very surprising and rather unpredictable time. For many, especially after the last few weeks, which have been rather difficult, frustrating, limiting, angry making, etc, with the Mars/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn, this will be a period of throwing things out. We've had a lot of pointers to getting rid of the unneeded and unwanted over the last few years, but, this feels like the time is more immediate for lightening our loads, for jettisoning the unnecessary. Chiron, of course, reveals our 'wounds' and, it can reveal 'The Stories We Tell Ourselves' because, after all, what is a 'wound' other than the story attached to it?

Soon, we'll have Uranus (first, of course, the Sun) moving into Taurus, so, this might feel even more like an opportunity for getting our possessions, relationships, living spaces, our minds and our thoughts, etc, more cleared of clutter, giving us more room to move.

We also have Mercury going direct right on this new Moon. It's going direct on Aries 5: A TRIANGLE WITH WINGS. This can have us wanting to escape the confines, the rise above difficulties, perhaps to rise above the superfluous and the outworn in our lives so we can reach a new level of 'being'. We might want to use our imaginations to rise above any difficulties and to picture new possibilities.

Chiron moving into Aries is likely to be heralding a major shift for many, as well. Chiron is on the last gasp of Pisces now, the Sabian Symbol for which is Pisces 30: A MAJESTIC ROCK FORMATION RESEMBLING A FACE IS IDEALIZED BY A BOY WHO TAKES IT AS HIS IDEAL OF GREATNESS, AND AS HE GROWS UP, BEGINS TO LOOK LIKE IT. This Symbol often speaks about issues to do with how we see ourselves in the world; what are we striving for, how do we see ourselves operating out there in the big wide world? What are we going to be when we 'grow up' :) With this degree, we often want to let go of the past while gathering to ourselves the new.

Chiron is moving the story from Pisces to Aries, and, we may feel like we are emerging into a different world, at least in some measure. The first degree of Aries is Aries 1: A WOMAN HAS RISEN OUT OF THE OCEAN, A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER. This first degree of Aries speaks of many things, but, one of the most important to my way of seeing it is that we are looking to find our 'feet and our voice'. As with mermaids, we have to (most likely once yet again) find our feet, and, to find our voice in amongst all that's going on. We might feel like we are in new territory, or, that we have an imperative to find a new way of being. Venus on Taurus 19 just hours before this new Moon backs this up. Taurus 19 is A NEW CONTINENT RISING FROM THE OCEAN. In so many ways, we are moving into a new period. How we embrace it is going to be interesting.

Uranus is on a degree that speaks of watching and observing the patterns around us, particularly those shown by astrology. Uranus is on Aries 29: THE MUSIC OF THE SPHERES. What 'music' do you listen to? What are the messages coming through now? We have just been through Uranus being on Aries 28 for a few weeks - A LARGE DISAPPOINTED AUDIENCE. Changing our 'tune', changing our voice, can lead us out of that 'disappointment', and, we may see where we may need to change our opinions of things, or, we may find that some things don't need to be 'set in stone', we have the ability to change that story.

Just days after this new Moon, however, Mars and Pluto conjunct (are on the same degree). This might point to having to give up some kind of 'battling'. Mars and Pluto will both be on Capricorn 22: A GENERAL REVEALING NOBILITY OF CHARACTER BY ACCEPTING DEFEAT GRACEFULLY. This might have us ruminating over things that might have 'gone wrong', and, we might want to let go of self-defeating behaviours, and, we would do well to not react to those 'old stories' that have outgrown their usefulness. Of course, events on the world stage might be rather startling as those in power don't want to relinquish that 'battle.

For my condensed take on all of this, the degree of the new Moon says a lot. Uranus was recently on this degree: Aries 27: THROUGH IMAGINATION, A LOST OPPORTUNITY IS REGAINED. Conscious affirmations that all is going to be OK can work wonders now. As Neville Goddard and Walter Russell, two giants out of the past, said repeatedly, we must have the assumption that what we want is with us already. The magic of this can work wonders!

There’s always more to say, but, you can find some added information by looking at the Sabian Symbol placements below.

The new Moon each month marks a time of new beginnings and realisations. It's like a birth after a time of gestation or being 'in the womb'. Here, the light begins to return and we can see new beginnings and possibilities. A new Moon means that the Sun and the Moon are both together - bringing a synergy of their energies together. The new Moon is a perfect time to set your intentions for the future. This period is wonderful for planting seeds of whatever kind. What do you want to manifest in your future? Whether you write it down, sing about it or just hold the thought forms in your mind, doing this at the new Moon can realise some fabulous results around the things that you want to draw into your life

The new Moon is on Aries 27: THROUGH IMAGINATION, A LOST OPPORTUNITY IS REGAINED  - the following is from my book - The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom -

Commentary: ‘Through Imagination, a Lost Opportunity is Regained’ implies an opportunity to set something right that was thought to be gone or past any hope of recovery. The power of the mind and the imagination are the best tools to use to retrieve this issue. This symbol shows that by using creative ideas, the very thing that was ‘Lost’ can be brought back into reality.

Oracle: You will have to summon up your talent and energy to recapture what has been ‘Lost’ to you. This can be about jobs, relationships, creative ideas, possessions, anything. Use your creative energy to revitalize an idea or opportunity, even if it seems to be hopeless. Even if you don’t get exactly what you want, you will probably feel an incredible sense of relief as things are put back on track again. You need to believe that it is possible to recapture what you thought was gone. Create an image in your mind; imagine yourself with this ‘Lost Opportunity Regained’ then you will most likely succeed in your objectives, at least on some level. Visualizing what you want, allowing time and watching for it to manifest can bring astounding results. Just about anything can be recovered when this Symbol is around, but you must put some energy into it, particularly using your ‘Imagination’. Timing may be important in this situation and you might need the help of others along the way. Finding ways to get the results you want may take time, or it could indeed happen overnight. Listen to your imagination and intuition and let creative solutions to your problems rise up from within. Remember, though, that often our rewards are different from what we first imagined.

Keywords: Creative imagination and visualization. Hopes renewed when all seemed lost. Second chances. Last minute reprieves. Retracing your steps. Judging things to be positive when once they were thought to be negative. Being exonerated or forgiven. Pardons giving release. Imagineering. Retrieving things. Making up for lost ground or time. Changing your mind therefore changing your outcome.

The Caution: Relying on self-pity. Denying the imagination to recover the situation. Not noticing solutions to problems. Letting chances for recovery disappear through inaction or laziness. Going over and over lost opportunities. Finding it impossible to let go. Staring at loss and not realizing what one has.

The Moon symbolizes: Emotions, moods, mother, family, clan, domestic issues, relationship to home and country. Feelings, sentiments, nourishment, emotional nurturing, monkey chatter mind, lunar and menstrual cycles, clarity of emotions or lunacy. Female energy - yours and others.

The Karmic Degree for the Moon is Aries 26: A PERSON POSSESSED OF MORE GIFTS THAN THEY CAN HOLD

This Symbol often shows someone who has more talent, more possessions, more gifts than most other people. Perhaps too much is demanded or expected of you or you expect life to give you more and more and more. Recognize that you are surrounded by abundance, but perhaps you are unable to experience it all at once. If you don't feel you have the ability to cope with all that life throws at you then look in your 'storehouse' and you could be surprised at talents you have that have never even been used. You may have to give up some things in order to make room for others.

Keywords: Potentials and the obsessions they can bring. Obsessions about “having things” or achieving goals. Counting one’s blessings. Jack-of-all-trades. Having to drop the bundle if one more thing is added. Being talented and blessed. Enormous responsibilities. Wanting to contain all possibilities. Storage. So many things to do—so little time.

The Caution: Not being able to focus on one issue at a time, or on ideas of real worth and therefore not really achieving anything. Inability to gain or contain everything that is desired. The Quest Degree for the Moon is Aries 28: A LARGE DISAPPOINTED AUDIENCE

This Symbol shows a sense of being an observer or a spectator, sometimes more than being a participant. You may have an inner critic that analyses things. In fact you might feel as though you, or someone else, have failed and left something wanting. But how much is this because too much was expected in the first place? The 'Audience' sometimes only remembers the last performance, so get up and try again. Be aware that you may be your own 'audience'. Do you feel that things have or haven't lived up to expectations? Are you missing out through negative projections? Perhaps your need to feel satisfied, to perform or be fulfilled should be more realistic.

Keywords: Adjustments of expectations bringing realizations about what is really possible. Expecting the response of others. Walking out during a performance. Not listening to something through a lack of interest. Anticipating a different result from what is delivered. Relying on feedback. Lines and queues of people. Criticism. This Symbol speaks of spending time with a lover or loved ones, or, it can show issues of loneliness; wondering where the 'other' is. Being with someone you love and enjoying their presence without rush or pressure is likely to be important, or perhaps that's what you're needing right now. Perhaps it's about being ok just being with that part of you that you never seem to have much time for. One should be able to escape the realities of the world and touch the deeper feelings of the heart, without fear of being excluded or criticized. Try to find some time for quiet romance and balance.

The Quest Degree for Mercury is Aries 6: A SQUARE BRIGHTLY LIGHTED ON ONE SIDE

This Symbol often shows a positive nature that knows how to find ways out of situations by creating creative solutions. Don't become too concerned with one side of issues in the material world, even if you feel boxed in with no way out. Don't have all your eggs in one basket. You have the ability to simply look around with a more objective eye and apply simple, active solutions - there are always ways out of dilemmas. Look for the light and head towards it.

Keywords: Illuminated solutions that provide ways out of tight situations. Having to put up walls to protect or defend versus taking down the barriers. Putting all your eggs in one basket. Venus is on Taurus 20: WISPS OF CLOUDS, LIKE WINGS, ARE STREAMING ACROSS THE SKY

This Symbol implies a sense of moving forward quickly, possibly without feeling grounded or anchored to the realities of what's going on around you. You may feel driven forward, almost out of your control, but you run the risk of either going past things too quickly, or tiring as you try to resist the push forward. Let superficial excitements affect you and then be prepared to go back and sort out details later. This is a wonderful degree, but you may need to slow down and take notice of what's going on and not be so eager to escape.

Keywords: Fleeting opportunities or inspiration. Feeling things "in the wind". Seeking a change in the weather. Thinking on your feet. Doing things at a fast pace. There is much work to be done developing this into something fertile and productive. A whole new field of activity is coming to light. You could feel as though you have read the book on life. There are, however, finer details that you may have missed and you may need to look again. There is a clear indication that you could look for something outside of yourself for clues on how to live or how to be. However, be discriminating about what is really significant. Find the essential details of a situation and disregard the rest. Looking for clues. Reading significant pieces of writing. Instruction manuals. Lawyers and the law. Oracles and synchronicities. This Symbol shows getting rid of the restraints imposed by social conditioning and inhibitions; to strip down to bare essentials and not be ashamed of it. The "Young Person" is enjoying the feeling of not having clothes or costume to constrain or cover them. They are also letting the sun and the air contact their skin which is very healthy and revivifying. This applies to a freeing up or exposing on a spiritual and emotional level as well, it's not confined to physical realities.

This degree shows being vibrant and alive and in the physical body with enthusiasm and excitement about life and the future. The "Gymnasium Suits" shows the need to get active and to stay active, to have time in your life to drop into the physical body and enjoy it. If you've been neglecting your physical well-being, it is good to reestablish that affinity with your vitality. Spontaneous enthusiasm and the joy of being 'alive' can regenerate and revive and bring about carefree contact with like minded people. The trick is to bring some form of physical discipline into your life while enjoying it and not feeling forced to do what you don't want to do.

However, political and social restraints from the past could be causing you to feel that you've somehow got to 'wage war'. This Symbol implies the need for protection of those innocent or younger, smaller, or not able to protect themselves. Being an advocate for others, you can shield them from the more harmful elements of society. You may, at times, feel that you are the one that needs to be protected or given shelter or in need of people declaring a ceasefire and amnesty so people can come out into the open and not be afraid to show their true selves. Of course, there is a need for an outlet for aggressive emotions every now and then. Doing so in groups gives this outlet, such as "Shooting Wild Ducks" some sense of acceptability. You may find yourself in situations where what you are expected to do is against your inner values, your conscience or how you see your future unfolding. This degree shows the overcoming of fears, superstitions or limiting thoughts. One of the ways of overcoming fears is through gentleness and a readiness to let down your guard and interact with people or animals without feeling afraid or vulnerable. Putting up a wall between you and other living things can cause alienation or the loss of the rewards that can come from truly relating. Even seemingly natural 'enemies' can realize the possibility of interaction and letting go of fear may be necessary. You may feel that you can deal with someone with whom you have usually kept your distance - possibly even help each other.

Neptune is on Pisces 16: IN A QUIET MOMENT, A CREATIVE INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCES THE FLOW OF INSPIRATION

This shows quieting the mind, spending time in "Quiet' contemplation, allowing for the "Flow of Inspiration". Inspiration is a stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity. You'll find the flow of inspiration coming through if you allow it to and the more creative you allow yourself to be, the more inspiration will be in the messages. You may find that with each idea or creative inspiration there follows another and another. This signifies taking time to relax and go with the flow neither fighting against nor pushing forward. Closed minds and fixed attitudes will not help.

Keywords: Creativity inspired from above. Openness to higher forces and ideals. Realizations. Dreams. Channeling thoughts and feelings. Messages from one's higher self. Finding solutions. Moments of calm leading to resolutions. Free flowing thoughts. The gift of inspiration. Turning on the tap of creativity. Blockages unblocked.

The Caution: Being too tired to meditate. Choosing to be unaware or to sleep instead of thinking purposefully. Not talking about what needs to be said. Having a lot of ideas that don’t translate into reality. Shutting off from others. Loud voices in the head. Schizophrenia.

Pluto is on Capricorn 22: A GENERAL ACCEPTING DEFEAT GRACEFULLY

This Symbol shows being able to see where and when to "Accept" that things are not working and letting go of events or people or thoughts that no longer work for you. There's times when we realize there is no longer any point in fighting and to 'win' in some situations may be impossible. At the time of surrender, it is the valor of the battle and the way you handled it that will be remembered. Sometimes, it is how gracefully you handle defeat that will be the measure. You will go onto other endeavors and win. You don't always have to "Accept Defeat": sometimes you have to accept your own victories.

Keywords: True inner worth. Being a "good loser". Learning that every minor skirmish in life is not a major 'Defeat'. Being prepared to start again. Sacrificing things for the benefit of others. Nobility of character. Letting go of the "charge" around anger. Surrendering. Knowing when to let go.

The Caution: Being a “bad loser”. Feeling everything is going to come out badly. Reliance on self-limitations. Seeing the negative in everything. Losing what’s been worked for. Making excuses to get out of tight situations. Betrayal and loss. Loss of support. Surrendering too early. Giving up on life.

Pluto symbolizes: Unconscious motivations, depth psychology, history. Sex, procreation at a deep level, intensity, profound emotions, taking hold of one's power. Chiron is on Pisces 30: A MAJESTIC ROCK FORMATION RESEMBLING A FACE IS IDEALIZED BY A BOY WHO TAKES IT AS HIS IDEAL OF GREATNESS, AND AS HE GROWS UP, BEGINS TO LOOK LIKE IT

This shows being able to envision or decide what you want to be and as you grow and develop, becoming that vision. The "Boy" lived in childhood under a hill figure of a president and when he grew up he became a president himself. You may find that you are growing into the image that you have imagined and it gives you a sense of pride - assuming you have chosen a positive image. What or who do you "Idealize"? What is it that you'd like to become? What image would you like to project? Meditating on a goal or the projection of an ideal can lead to actuality. Just be clear about what you really desire in the situation - you just might get it.

Keywords: Concrete manifestation of one's ideals. Enduring truths. Culmination of efforts. Projections of ideal images. Wanting to be "big" and successful. Tutankhamen's mask. Wanting a sense of immortality. Defining one's fate through conscious manifestation. Morphing reality to suit an objective. Ambition. The ability to see life in inanimate objects.

The Caution: Not being at all clear about whom one is or what one can be. Becoming a screen for the projection of other’s ideals. Stony faces that show the hardships of life. Hardening of one’s personality. Stony faces. Idealizing others therefore losing one's own identity.

The Quest Degree for Chiron is Aries 1: A WOMAN HAS RISEN OUT OF THE OCEAN, A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER

This degree is the beginning of the zodiac where the old gets left behind and a new understanding and awareness comes to light. Something new is emerging and it needs to be welcomed and nurtured. This is the beginning of a whole new impulse, creative and responsive. There's an emergence of a whole new potentiality. Resist looking back to outgrown and unsatisfactory conditions in your life as they can pull you back to old and unrewarding ways of being. This is also about finding your voice and your feet.

Keywords: Cycles starting. Beginnings. Emergence into concrete manifestation. Embracing and honoring the shadow. Recognizing our animal side. Tropical islands or lands. Rocky shores. Seals. Oceans and water. Shedding skins. Transmutation. The Selkie myth. Grounding one's energy. Stepping between the sea and the shore. Androgyny. Love and its embrace. Finding your feet and your voice. The Moon's North Node is on Leo 12: AN EVENING LAWN PARTY OF ADULTS

This Symbol shows having fun, relaxing and socializing with people, usually in an informal setting, although this can sometimes imply formal ones. Give the rigors of the work routine a rest. Having a drink, eating some food, sharing a chat and gossip, meeting new people, networking and catching up with friends is good for the soul. Relaxation is great, especially where there is no need for pretense. Of course, you may be the host of the party and you may have to provide a venue, food, drinks and entertainment. Still, you should get to enjoy the moment and mix with people.

Keywords: Rising above superficiality into receptivity and peace with others. People mixing in a social setting. Sedate and conservative celebrations. Formal events vs. impromptu gatherings. Gossip. Leisure time. Political correctness. Enjoying socializing. Being a good conversationalist. Drinks and food on platters. Knowing who to invite.

The Caution: A sense of superficiality where things are known but not said out loud. Appearance and social standing taking on too much importance. Ignoring real and immediate issues. Not knowing how to act with the “adults”. Malicious gossip. Having to face those you don’t want to see. Getting drunk and “out of bounds”. False fronts.

The Moon's North Node symbolizes: This is known as quite a 'karmic point' (although all planets and points in a chart can be 'karmic'). One's destiny in this life. The things you are meant to integrate, move towards, become. Destined relationships and relationship issues can show up here.

The Moon's South Node is on Aquarius 12: PEOPLE ON A VAST STAIRCASE, GRADUATED UPWARDS

This shows being able to interact with others and integrate various levels of experience, life or people, and not feel compromised by what rung, or level, you're at in your own life. The "Vast Staircase" can show the ladder that one must climb, socially, spiritually, emotionally - even physically. Going up that staircase, one begins to feel more empowered, more accomplished, more 'there'. However, being on a lower rung may cause a feeling of compromise. Don't concern yourself with who's in front or behind. It is of little true consequence. Accept your position, but strive ever upwards. Trust that you and yours are heading in the right direction.

Keywords: Observing life from different levels. Social gradations and graduations. Working class to aristocracy. Orders from above, in any sense of the meaning. Waiting for one's turn at the top. Politics. Big business. Multilevel marketing. Gradual upward climbs. Competitiveness. Stairs and ladders. Taking life step by step. Admiring success. Promotions. Corporate ladders.

The Caution: Nervous worry about social position. Snobbery because of monetary, intellectual or social status. Can imply class, creed or racial prejudice. Climbing the ladder of success without care for those who are supplanted. Unsafe heights. Falling from grace. Denigrating or undermining others. Snakes and ladders. Rarefied atmospheres.

The Moon's South Node symbolizes: Past karmic patterns to be overcome, can be habits that are good, but can describe things, relationships, issues that you need to let go of, or, hold you back from manifesting your true destiny. Relationships that feel karmic and difficult, memories from the past.

really do need your help in this. I love Walter Russell’s take on this: “giving is for re-giving” – we give and we receive. A donation, large or small, will really help and I will appreciate it. I’ve had a few shocks to the system lately, and, I could use the encouragement.

I’m reminded of Florence Scovel Shinn’s affirmation: I have a magical work in a magical way, I give magical service for magical pay.

What are the Sabian Symbols?

The ancients divided up the sky, just like any other circle, into 360 degrees. They assigned each of the 12 constellations (star signs or zodiac signs) 30 degrees each: 12 times 30 = 360.

The Sabian Symbols are a set of 360 phrases of words that correspond with each of the 360 degrees of the wheel of the zodiac, from Aries 1 to Pisces 30. Consisting from as little as 2 words (Virgo 2: 'A Harem') to as many as 21 words (Taurus 5: 'A Youthful Widow, Fresh and Soul-Cleansed From Grief, Kneels at an Open Grave to Receive the Secret of Eternal Life), each one of these Symbols holds both a story and a unique energy field of their own.

These images hold meaning for those degrees of the signs. Although the Symbols have their foundations in astrology, absolutely no knowledge of astrology is needed to use them.

The Sabian Symbols were given birth in San Diego, California, in 1925 by Marc Edmund Jones, a noted American astrologer and spiritualist and the gifted clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler.

Jones was interested to find a set of word images to go with every degree of the zodiac. Elsie Wheeler was an extraordinary clairvoyant confined to a wheelchair for most of her life.

Jones chose Elsie Wheeler as his partner in this 'experiment' (as M.E. Jones called it) as she had a remarkable ability to "see" messages, images and symbols.

She used this talent to help her clients, but was rather weary of the standard questions she received, such as "when will I be rich?" and "when will I meet the love of my life?"

She was eager to take part as she believed that this was an opportunity to really contribute something to astrology.
