The sold out Sydney Wildlife Go Wild Gala had so much happening, with so many great auction items and entertainment, attendees may just be beginning to recover as you read this Sunday morning - or Monday!

Held to raise funds for a Sydney Wildlife Mobile Clinic which will be dedicated to treating injured and sick wildlife and ensuring that they remain protected for generations, this clinic may also be able to be deployed to areas affected by natural disasters to assist with treatment and pain alleviation.

Last night (Saturday November 11th) one step closer to achieving this goal was taken - full report next Issue.

Remembrance Day In Pittwater: 11.11.2017

Captain Michael Maley CSC DSM, President of Avalon Beach RSL Sub Branch - Photo by A J Guesdon.
Remembrance Day Services were held in Pittwater yesterday at Palm Beach RSL, Pittwater RSL and Avalon Beach RSL. Conducted by the sub Branches of these clubs, the occasion marks the 99th year since the first and honours, by observing a minute’s silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all those who have died serving our country in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

More than one and a half million Australians have served in defence of Australia and more than 102,000 have died.
The day is also a chance to remember all those who have been affected by the loss of loved ones, the mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, and children of defence personnel.

This year at Avalon Beach RSL Sub-Branch the Guests of Honour were the Legacy Widows, whom Captain Michael Maley CSC DSM, made special mention of during this year's Service.

The 2017 Remembrance Day Addresses were give by Barrenjoey High School Captains Elijah Thomson and Ella Couston, and were outstanding in their choice of subject, sentiment and respect shown, so much so that the President of Avalon Beach RSL Sub-Branch, Captain Maley, thanked the school captains on behalf of those who have served and serve still.

Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the First World War Armistice.

The Art Of Mick Glasheen: Drawing On The Land, Garigal Country

EMU IN MILKY WAY FINALE
You are invited to the exhibition opening of Newport Artist, Mick Glasheen, whose work is known and loved by many of us on the Peninsula. Mick is holding his first public exhibition of his extraordinary drawings. In his panoramic drawings and paintings of the sandstone plateaus, caves and beaches of Pittwater, Mick brings the landscape to life in a way that few other artists have done.

Opening December 2nd and running for three consecutive weekends at the Newport Community Centre, these extraordinary works bring a dynamic dimension to an ancient land form and knowing.

To prelude this wonderful exhibition Mick will be adding more of his works into his November Artist of the Month page in the lead up to opening night - please revisit his page in the coming weeks to see these breath taking works which may be viewed in full size from opening night.
